North American Shepherds (NAS) were formerly called Miniature or Toy Australian Shepherds. This breed is a developing breed directly derived from Australian Shepherds.
They are similar to Australian Shepherds in conformation, colors, working ability, temperament and loyalty. There are two size divisions, one division is 14" to 18" tall at the withers The other division is between 10" to 14" at the withers. They are extremely intelligent & active dogs that thrive on attention & need to have a very close relationship with their human companions. Lots of exercise is a must.
